Winter ’19-’20 started quite punctually, but turned out te be a mild winter in general. For Christmas we had little snow cover and few kilometers of tracks, as you can see on the pictures below. The first sessions of school skiing took place at high altitudes, far from the refuge. Though, if there is one word that defines this winter, it must be “Gloria”. This was how the snowstorm was named that covered the landscape with 70 cms, or more, of real heavy snow. After removing all the fallen trees, we could arrange the tracks in the excellent conditions shown by the pictures below. However, Gloria was practically the only significant snowfall. It has enabled us to perform crosscountry ski lessons for the schools and private skiers in acceptable conditions. The other important word is “corona virus”, which provoked the sudden lockdown of the ski resorts.
